What is Tallow?
Tallow is made by rending animal fats. Rendering is a process by which the animal fat is boiled down and the impurities removed (this also helps to minimize the animal smell). Tallow can come from beef, sheep, goats, deer, bear and pigs (known as lard from pig sources). The most common tallow is made from beef suet. Suet is the nutrient-dense fat around the kidneys and organs of animals.
We render all tallow and lard ingredients ourselves to ensure the best quality. Once rendered, tallow can be used as a salve, balm, and skin moisturizer due to its emollient properties. It helps to hydrate, heal and protect skin.
Our whipped tallow balms and tallow lotion bars make a great face cream, cold cream for eye puffiness, and foot cream for “alligator feet” in the winter. Our tallow products are great for dry, chapped, winter skin; and rejuvenation from frequent hand washing or wood fire stoves.
Tallow balms are very simple and have very few added ingredients. They do not require a preservative, which makes them a popular option amongst those with eczema or skin too sensitive for traditional lotions that are made with a preservative.

Tallow is not a vegan product.
We take pride in our ingredients and work hard to provide a safe and hypoallergenic product. All our ingredients are organic, naturally derived and whenever possible, locally sourced! Our tallow is always locally sourced from farms or butcher’s located in Bradford County, PA!
All of our products are all natural and free from dyes and fragrances. Scented soaps and lotions are scented using essential oils, infused oils, or extracts.
We love to practice sustainable farming. We also love to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Making tallow and tallow products is a great way ensure that every part of a butchered animal is used and not wasted.
